Recently I got a interview the the person behind the show Joe Van Dyke.
-Do you have a list of all the artist in the mixer?
NATHAN KANE GRIMES
DEREK DES ISLETS
-Is there anything about this show your looking forward too?
Yes! this is the 2nd show I’ve done at TSI, and the first one was one of my favorite shows ever, so I am pretty much looking forward to the whole thing! and of course SUNBEARS will be amazing!
-Your shows usually consist of 4-5 bands and 30-50 artist, how long does it take to plan one of your shows?
It doesnt take as long as most people think, just like 15 mins here and there.
more time goes into the flyering and spreading the word about the shows.
-I know you had shows at Square One, TSI, Ocean Club, Seawalk Hotel, Murray Hill Theatre, Fuel, The Town Center is there any place you haven’t show yet but think it would be a cool place to have one?
I actually havnt done a show at Square One, but all of the other places you mentioned plus Freebird Live, Metro park (the Talleyrand Festival), 2 clubs in Daytona Beach, and one in Orlando so far.
I am working on getting a gallery in the Jaguars’ stadium, so that is a cool place that I would like to use for sure!
-What happen to Vestal and does your shows have any more sponsors?
Vestal is a rad company from California that I have worked with on certain shows, and will continue to do stuff with in the future. Have also worked with Jedidiah, Sparks, and Redbull, among others. When a company has a cool vision and wants to be a part of it Im always down!
-Are you at liberty to name some of your favorite local artist or bands?
Of course! I love a lot of artists’ work, but some of my favorites are Grant Thornton, Shaun Thurston, Kristi Howell, Tim Lenoir, & Nicole Middleton, just to name a few.
Some of my favorite local bands would be Sunbears, Richard Love, & The John Carver Band. (there are too many to name tho, for sure)
-Is there any artist that has shown work at every one of your shows, at least your jacksonville shows?
None that have shown in EVERY show, but there are a few that have come close. There are usually a pretty diverse group that changes from show to show.
-At the Fuel show you were in it, you did a piece of Michelango’s Creation with your face on the image that was representing Adam, what happen to that drawing?
I still have it! haha that one gets a lot of attention, probably because I am nude in the piece!
-Have you ever had a artist make a weird request, like they needed to use of a refrigerator to store a jar of severed hamster heads?
Haha no, but that would be awesome! the artists are always easy to work with
-Do you know the most anyone has sold a painting for at your shows?
Hmmm, i dont actually monitor the sales of other people’s work at the shows, but some have def sold pieces for over $1,000 at some of the shows.
-If i was a artist in this show what time do i need to be set up by and when does it need to be taken down?V
I send a detailed info sheet to each of the artists in the shows, but we are starting set up at 4pm at this show, and the art comes down when the show is over, around 2am.
-Any heads up on the next show?
I’ll be doing a show in Daytona beach in August, but we’ll do another show at Ocean Club at the beach in September, so i’ll keep you posted!
This is the Sunbears! they will be performing at the show.
